Making time for Me

So I sit here with the house empty and nothing to do and then I realize…Hmm I haven’t done a lot of things for myself lately…Let’s make a list…Well boy was I in for a surprise when I realized that I have a lot to do for myself. Sometimes as mothers, girlfriends, or wives’ we completely think of our self last.

As I sit here my list is growing, and growing…I have a lot to do for myself. I have also decided that I am going to make them priority just like taking my son to class, practice, or to visit friends…I will also add my “things to do for me” as top priorities as well!

Ladies…I think we all need to set a little time for ourselves to paint our nails, or take an extra long bubble bath, or listen to your favorite CD in the car!

Senoritas Cantina – Austin, TX "Tex Mex with a Twist"

So I had the pleasure of finally going in there the other night to enjoy a Texas Ranger World Series game. I will have to say I was surprised that this hidden place in a strip mall was worth spending the entire night watching the game. My plans were simply stop by and check it out and see my favorite bartender Hannah. The people hanging out in there were easy to make more new friends. So I had a great experience! I encourage you, if you want Tex Mex with a twist…this is your place to go

Menu:

They have a great menu from Burgers, Fajitas, and Appetizers like Fried calamari, Shrimp Diablo, and chicken wings. I tried the fajita Nacho’s and they were scrumptious and may I add I piled on the jalapeños and I had no left overs!  All gone…Finger licking good! 

Happy Hour:

3-7 Monday-Friday and all Appetizers are half off! The night we went because of the game they extended HH until they closed

Live Music:

They are working on getting Bands set there to play. As of Right now I know Pete Benz has played a few times. And tonight (10-21-2011) Tonight “Frankly Singing” is going to be there.

Now last but not least and my favorite…One of my bartender’s I have followed wherever she works…Hannah. Smiling face, southern girl, and never forgets a face! She currently isSenoritas Cantina- Austin, Texas Check them  bartender there and the drinks come quick and she gets it right the first time around! 

I plan on trying it a few more times and will keep you posted. But from just walking in and planning on staying for 30 minutes, then ending up staying until (past my bedtime) I had a great time!

Fuzzy Taco’s Cedar Park,Texas: Review

I got to enjoy my Sunday Brunch there with a few of my girlfriends on Sunday and I will have to say I was truly happy with the whole atmosphere and experience…If you are in the market to try something a little different from the normal…this is a great place to try! 

It is like no other place in the Cedar Park, Texas Area.. It has its own personality and vibe gives it that true “Keep Austin Weird” vibe... One of those kinds of places you could walk in right from the beach and still get great food.  It was very energetic and laid back combined in one place; I know this makes no sense but try it for your selves.  Indoor seating and covered patio with ceiling fans. 

Menu:  Baja Style Mexican Food is so mouthwatering! My food was delicious, and was more than I could finish, generous helpings and unique menu, no doubt! They have a lot of variety and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. You are most definitely going to find something on the menu to please those taste buds. Added Bonus…Their Hot Sauce, I couldn't put it down!

Drinks: they have cold beer and frozen margaritas, regular and strawberry…Need I say more! They go along with the TV’s up in Fuzzy’s! Football anyone?!

I know I mention Cedar Park, Texas But Fuzzy’s Taco has 42 stores in 7 states, so there might just be one near you!

Baked Parmesan Artichoke Chicken Recipe

Baked Artichoke Parmesan Chicken:

4 Chicken breasts (beat them to flatten them)

¾ cup mayonnaise (My hunny hates Mayo and he loved the recipe)

¾ cup of Parmesan

2 teaspoons of garlic or 2 fresh cloves of garlic minced

1-14oz. can of water packed artichoke quarters or hearts (keep water, don't drain)

Pre-heat oven to 400

Mix the Mayo, Parmesan, garlic, and artichoke in a large mixing bowl

Be sure and spray a baking pan with non-stick spray

Line the pan with the chicken and then just pour the mixture evenly over all of the chicken and bake on 400 for 25-40 minutes, Check to make sure it is done before eating!

**I doubled the recipe so we could eat for the next day. It does get a bit saltier the next day. I wouldn’t add any salt to your recipe.

Review on the New Fast Eddie’s Northfork: Upscale Sport Billiard

I will have to say that the new Fast Eddie’s in Austin/Cedar Park is so nice. I stopped counting after 35 HD TV’s and there were at least 10 more on the way. The vibe is nothing like the one in Pflugerville/Round Rock area. It has a very metro, sexy, classy vibe. 

16 pool tables ($5 wrist band play the rest of the day), 5 electric darts boards, and 3 manual ones (give your ID and there free). No matter where you were in the Sport’s Tavern you had a view of the televisions. The added bonus is the humongous Projector Television on the main wall. I don’t know the dimensions but huge is all I can say. There is an area with sofas, loveseats, and coffee tables. If you wanted to sit at a bar table or counter, there were plenty to go around. 

The waitresses were a little slow and some you could tell were new to the business. They were only 2 waitresses and 1 bartender during the Texas Longhorn Football game vs. UCLA Bruins (which we won!)  But in all fairness Fast Eddie’s hasn’t even had their Grand Opening yet. As the day went on there were more staff on hand and the service was great once they were staffed. The bartenders were a little slow; it really looked like they just didn’t expect the crowd they got. Once they realized we are packed they hustled.  What place doesn’t have a few scheduling kinks to work out when they haven’t even had their Grand Opening? 

The outdoor patio has plenty of Outdoor patio furniture, if you’re in the mood for lounging…Love-seats to kick back…If you want a dining seating. They got it too! The patio is for smoker’s so that is somewhat of a downfall and it did get a little stagnate in their when everyone was lighting up. Good thing though…they are going to expand the area so it will open up and will get more of a breeze. 

They have great food prices. 20 boneless or wings for under $11: great deal any way you spin it, and may I add they were very good. The only other food I had was the seasoned French fries. Yummy! Will try other items as I continue to go in and root for the horns! 

It is a Must go place for a Sports Party. No matter the mix of friends that you invite there is going to be something that they can do to enjoy themselves. We had a great time and look forward to many more University of Texas Longhorn Football on their enormous screen…No doubt you will catch me there again and again.

Heart Over Mind-Vince Moreno..It has changed my life!

As I sit at work with the last 5 minutes of the day just twiddling my thumbs, I as usual decide I am going to You-tube some music...I don't really remember what I listened to, but do you ever look at what you-tube suggests for you to watch or listen,too? Well it suggested "Heart over Mind" Vince Moreno..and as I closed up shop for the day I liked what I was hearing and clicked on the "Show more info" and low and behold...What Do I see..I see the name of the man who fathered me, that I had never met...right there before my eyes, not only did I hear his music but was in fact watching a video of him playing and singing.

 My mind went from excitement, my heart dropping to my stomach, butterflies, anger..all rolled in one lovely package in a matter of 4 1/2 minutes. How could this be? How could the man that I had finally put closure to in my life 14 years ago come stumbling back into my life over a youtube suggested video...I mean really? What does this all mean?

I have actually done some googling, ancestry, and internet searching and much to my amazement over the last week, I have learned so much about a man that I dont even know, but I should...but dont!

The deck of cards that we are dealt aren't always going to be the one that wins you the hand, but the can defienetly point you into a direction that in the end could just be the "winning hand"

“I wish they brought back”...the 80's Music...the Era! Ok..All of it!

Ok…I am doing it…I am bringing the “I wish they brought back” Back…!!

Yes, I am so going there. I was born in the late 70’s but have found that I love my 80’s. I love the culture, the color, the spunk punk rock, the music, and most of all..The Attitude the 80's had! I love it all and “Wish they would bring it back”

Music:  I love all of the music. Um Hello…I follow several 80’s bands throughout the Austin, Texas Area Including, Skyrocket, Radio Star, and a new addition Capital Suspects, I just got to get my fill of the 80’s and if that isn’t enough my poor co-worker gets to listen to it all day long on my AOL Radio…. What can I say? It at brings smiles to my face and gets my feet on another level. Some of the bands Include: Air Supply, Barbara Streisand, Barry Manilow, Blondie, A Flock Of Sea Gulls, The Beatles, Chicago, Dazz Band…I mean I could just keep going on and on. I can’t even begin to write all of them down. Ok so I will try...Billy Jean-Michael Jackson, Into the Groove-Madonna, Super Freak (12 inch mix), Beat it-Michael Jackson, Funky town-Lipps Inc-Pure Disco, Sweet Dreams-Eurythmics, Don’t you Want Me-Human League, Tainted Love-Soft Cell, Like a Virgin-Madonna, Blue Monday-New Order… I mean that is just the top of the cherry pie. I love getting up and dancing and making a fool of me and this is just some of the sweet cherry Pie!

The clothes! I am so there. Who didn’t have a pair of MC Hammer Pants and just love them. I would give anything to have a pair. I was so young in the 80’s I remember when MTV only played music videos. The style was so punkish, rocker, crimped hair, big colored hoop earring, ponytails off to the side of the head. Oh and scrunches’, and tying your t-shirt in a little knot and rolling the sleeve to a perfect cuff. Oh MY God I love it! I feel an 80’s party oh so coming on! 

Then there is the furniture: Got the modern with an edge hip in it. Just so stylish and what is so crazy is that all of the 80’s has been creeping its way back in to America People. How can you not love something so fun and crazy? 

Well if you are in the Cedar Park, Texas area and feeling throwing some crazy 80’s clothes on or just dancing to a song or 2…Shooters in the Rail Yard Crossing 9 PM Capital Suspects…I will be there no doubt!
