Generationally Speaking "X"....The World we live in now as opposed to back when

Generationally Speaking "X"

You know as I sit here and listen to my son talk to his friends and a constant texting, and the stress levels they are under…I am amazed at how times have changed.

Cell Phone: At the age of 15 we weren’t even thinking about sending Pictures or getting in a “text fight” that could be passed around the school via text in a matter of minutes…Like a Viral Infection of Destruction. When we heard about gossip it trickled down the halls. And it is so sad to hear in the news about young girls that sent a racy picture to a boy and then the picture going viral and therefore not being able to handle the pressure. Suicide seemed her only option. This is a sad loss of life and it needs to stop. But what can we do? Maybe rules should have been set or maybe she never got sat down and told what kind of dangers are out there with a pic camera phone.

Drugs: Growing up we were taught say No to drugs, and our parents drilled it into our head. We all knew when Dare week was coming up because man our parents made us participate. I know at the age of 16 I was offered for the first time Weed and I about died with embarrassment because I didn’t even know what it looked like. I felt so stupid. But now we have young children we hear about in the news, radio, and that we read about in the newspaper that are doing cocaine at a slumber party at the age of 10. Where in the world would a child of that age even be able to get their hands on something so evil?

Where do we place the blame? Who is at fault? A lot of people would say it’s the parents, or it is the TV...Hello we watch shows like 70’s show and Weeds that make it look appealing, but there not the one to blame.

I think that everybody plays a part in this Generation “X” issues.

Parents: Stay involved in your kids’ activities, Date your kids, get to know them as they are changing and growing into young adults. We are all born with bad in us; we have to be taught the right way of living. Ask where you are going? Who are you going with, and for goodness sakes…? And you let them know when they will be home. Curfew is so important.  As a young child under the age of 18…there is nothing good going on at 2 in morning…their butts should be at home with you not driving around in a car from somewhere with running the risk of Drunk Drivers out there. I understand that they have sleep overs and that they are going to live and do things. But the other day in my apartment complex kids running around till 4am. I just couldn’t understand why a Mother wouldn’t be outside like freaking out because her child wasn’t home.

You know in the book we all called the Bible. It says in there it takes a village to raise a child in the right direction. As adults in the TV industry, Celebrity Industry, Models, Business Owners, and Local Business…Let’s ask ourselves the next time we advertise or do something that Is promoting Drugs, Sex, or Violence…Would I want my baby to do that? Would I want my child to be exposed to that? If you wouldn’t put that poster in your daughters room or you wouldn’t let her wear that dress? Or you just wouldn’t let her watch the very show you are directing. Take a queue and know that neither would we. Respect your own Moral and values in the decisions you make as a business and as a company.

Everyone from the Teacher, the Advertising Companies, Parents, Church Leaders, Staff at Schools our children attend…We are all responsible for our youth and It is Time we take a stand in promoting healthy children who know and learn how to handle the stress of this World.

Let’s do our part to make this world a better place. I have heard so many people say…Why I would want to bring a child into this world? The answer is simple. Do your Part to make this world better. Live the way you would want your child to live and it might just be a better world.
